Treasures beyond price in The Devil's Heart

Dear Readers:

My fifth book from Harlequin Presents hits the shelves tomorrow! I'm so excited to be able to share this story with you. First, a little bit about the book:

A diamond, and a deal with the devil…

Francesca D’Oro was just eighteen when darkly sexy Marcos Navarre swept her up the aisle—then fled before the ink on the marriage licence had dried. Marcos might have given Francesca a jewel for her finger, but he stole another: the Devil’s Heart—a dazzling yellow diamond he believed belonged to his family…

Years later Francesca, no longer so youthfully naïve, is determined to reclaim the precious gem! But she’s forgotten that Marcos lives up to the treasure’s name—and dealing with the devil is always dangerous!

While there is indeed a rare diamond at the heart of this story, it's the other treasures that are truly priceless. Marcos Navarre is a scarred man, both literally and figuratively. He had a hard childhood on the streets of Buenos Aires, and then an even harder time once he got tangled up with a guerrilla army as a young man.

But he's escaped that life and built himself into something good and decent. What he lacks, however, is the ability to love.

Or so he thinks.

Enter Francesca d'Oro, a woman he knew when she was younger and more naive. Francesca has demons of her own to fight. Her life is not the privileged existence it once was, and the blind love she'd once felt for Marcos is now gone.

In fact, she hates Marcos for what he did to her. And she's determined to get even with him.

But of course nothing is as it seems, and plans go awry.

Marcos and Francesca learn they have the key to treasures beyond price if they can just get past all the pain and hurt of their pasts and learn to forge a life together. It's not an easy ride, but I do hope it's an unforgettable one.

RT Book Reviews said, "Lots of conflict, hot love scenes and a satisfying ending make this an entertaining read." I hope you'll agree!

While you should be able to find the book on your store shelves tomorrow, it's already shipping from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders, and the Book Depository. 1. I love pearls. Does that count? Ever since I read Anne of Green Gables I haven't been a fan of diamonds. Oh, I know, I adore pink sapphires. Though I'll never be able to afford one!

  2. I'd have to go for emerald, as it's the central stone of my engagement ring. Not only did husband choose it himself, in secret, it fit perfectly :)

  3. You know, I don't really have a favorite gemstone. I love my diamond engagement ring, although I now only wear it on special occasions because it gets caught in my pocket, is tight, etc. That's the only gemstone that counts for me, really.

Most of my necklaces and earrings are costume jewellery because I like the colors matching my clothes. The only other jewellery would be my pearls. Pearls go with most everything (too).

Thanks for sharing THE DEVIL'S HEART with us. I read the excerpt and enjoyed Marcos carrying Francesca up the stairs. Now THAT'S what dreams are made of, LOL!

  5. Hi Lynn,

I really enjoyed reading THE DEVIL's HEART. It's a fantastic story with it's deep as well as light moments. There's thrill, danger and emotional tragedy as well.

    I loved, loved it!!

I think it was the first time I visited Argentina in a book! Enjoyed that ride as well.

Congratulations on such a fabulous book and wish you many, many sales success!

Diamonds are a girls best friend, so I heard!
No need to enter me in the giveaway as I already have The Devil's Heart.

  6. Hi, Ros! Of course pearls count! In fact, if you pop over to my website (via the excerpt link), you'll see that it was a famous pearl that was the inspiration for El Corazon del Diablo in the first place. :)

Oh, Redwriter, how romantic! Hubby chose it in secret, and it fit! I love emeralds too. They are so gorgeous. As a romance writer, I can't help but think of Romancing the Stone and the giant emerald in that movie. :)

Hi, Laney! I love costume jewelry too! You can find so many gorgeous things to go with your outfits, right? I also enjoy vintage costume jewelry that I get at the antique store. I'm so glad you enjoyed the excerpt! :)

Anne, thank you! :) I love angsty heroes too. Sigh.

Hi, Nas! Thank you for your lovely kind words. I'm so glad you enjoyed the story -- I loved writing about Argentina! Totally agree on the diamonds. :)

  8. Sapphire is my birthstone, Linda! I love them too. :)

  9. I love pearls. I like that they are beautiful without being enhanced by a jeweler. They don't need to be cut and polished like gemstones. Even their imperfections are beautiful.

  10. I agree about pearls, Stacie! They are naturally gorgeous. :)

  14. Hey Lynn,

My favorite gemstone is amythest. It's my daughter and granddaughter's birthstone but I just love it.

I also have a Topaz ring that is called Neptune's Garden (it's like a mystic topaz) and it's all purples and blues. My favorite necklace is an alexandrite, a very rare stone that actually changes colors. Mine goes from purple to blue (like topaz) to brown, depending on what I am wearing.
